Custom Capabilities Of Tunco Manufacturing
Tunco Manufacturing offers many custom manufacturing capabilities for metal products requiring tungsten carbide coatings in order to meet the needs of its customers in various industries. Tire manufacturers, boat manufacturers and others require extra hard surfaces for cutting non-ferrous, composite materials. Some of the processes are highlighted below.
Brazing
Tunco offers multiple capacity brazing furnaces, which run at 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. This includes a pusher type furnace for large parts up to 36" long and 16" in height as well as continuous feed mesh belt furnaces for high production runs that can operate 24 hours a day.
Plasma Coating
We also have a thermal spraying system for spraying various metal sizes ranging from 1/16" to 65" using coatings ranging from 400 mesh to 60 mesh. For plasma spraying we have a state of the art plasma spraying system, which operates at 35,000 degrees Fahrenheit using a combination of electric and gas. Our available Plasma coatings include carbide, ceramic, stainless, aluminum oxides, or coatings required for customer's specs.
Recoating
We can recoat a customer's existing part whether Tunco Manufacturing previously coated it or not. We possess very capable oxide stripping equipment, which will remove most nickel or copper coated parts. Tunco then reapplies coatings using the methods mentioned above in the Brazing section.
Balancing
Tunco's balancing capabilities allow us to meet virtually any balancing requirement needed. Our single plane balancers allow us to balance small and large diameter parts with a minimal width to a tolerance of .1 inch ounces. Larger parts up to 40" diameter and 4" wide can be balanced on dual plane balance that corrects both the left and right planes. All larger parts being dual planed balanced are done to a correction of .2 inch ounces. If your correction requires high speed balancing up to 8000 RPM's this can be handled on our vibration correction test equipment. All corrections are done to a specification of .5 inch seconds of vibration or better.
Fabricating
If your part requires fabricating, that can be handled on all materials including low carbon steel, aluminum and high alloy stainless steels.
Our capabilities allow us to:
- Shear up to 12' long
- Press brake up to 12' long
- CNC laser cut 8' x 8"
- Water jet cut 8' x 8'
- Tig weld Wire weld Stick weld
- Welding would include all fabricated materials
Machining
Tunco Manufacturing has an in-house full-line machine shop that allows us to create, recondition, and modify any part that our customers may require. With numerous conventional manual lathes and mills that can take us from the smallest diameter up to 70" diameter, your one or two piece requirements are no problem for our people. With our full line of CNC lathes and machine centers we have the ability to take on the most complex and tight tolerance design requirements. In-house CNC machining capabilities allow us to handle your large volume runs in both large and small size parts. Currently we manufacture wheels up to 36" in diameter by 20" wide and holding tolerances of .0005 of an inch.
