What is Tungsten Carbide Grit Surface? Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials known. It measures 90 on the Rockwell "C" scale, and that approaches the hardness and durability of natural diamonds. When crushed, the resultant tungsten carbide grit particles are extremely sharp. Utilizing a controlled atmosphere furnace brazing process, we permanently bond the grit to your part, creating a surface that can only be worn by the dulling or rounding of the sharp grit edges. A grit coating can be applied to an infinite variety or metallic shapes with a full ( completely covered ), medium, or sparse density, depending upon your application. We'll be glad to help you select the correct grit size and density. |
