Whether you grind at 7,600 R.P.M. or half that speed, Tunco can provide a wheel to meet your requirements.

Our grinding wheels are made of one piece forged steel, and coated with Tungsten Carbide grit. The wheel may be used safely at high rotational speeds (up to 7,600 R.P.M. and surface speeds of 20,000 S.F.M.).

With a split surface wheel (two different grit sizes), most rolls can be rough ground and finished in a single pass.

Tunco can offer a variety of wheel designs and sizes. Tunco can also manufacture a specific wheel for a single job or manufacture universal wheels for a variety of jobs. All wheels can be used with coolant to reduce heat, smoke and dust.

SINGLE OR DOUBLE RIB MULTI GRIT

Tunco wheels are manufactured to your specific requirements. Single, double, or triple rib-wheels can be manufactured for roughing and finishing in one pass.

SPECIAL DESIGNS

Send us a sketch or drawing of your requirements. Often wheels with a specific face, such as taper, can be made at little or no additional cost.

BORE

1.250" standard on all wheels. Other bore diameters available.

BALANCE

All Tunco wheels are dynamically balanced to stringent specifications

BOND TYPES

  • Copper bond for coarser grit sizes (10 & 16).

  • Nickel-Chrome ( Super Bond) for longer wear, and higher shear strength.

  • "C" series for long lasting, faster, cooler operation.

RECONDITIONING
Available at 60% of new wheel price.

Reconditioning consists of the following:

  • Strip off old grit

  • Recut wheel peripherally for grit surface preparation

  • Application of new grit

  • Dynamic balance

  • Dress if necessary

  • Final inspection

FINISH

By utilizing precisely sized particles of Tungsten Carbide, we can now achieve a superior finish from our larger more aggressive grit.

EXTENDED LIFE

The combination of using a newly developed harder grade of crushed Tungsten Carbide and the ability to achieve better finishes with these benefits:

  • A wheel that lasts longer due to the increased carbide surface thickness from larger particles.

  • A wheel that lasts longer due to the increased hardness of the Tungsten Carbide.

RECOMMENDED OPERATION

Operating speeds of 20,000 surface feet per minute are possible with 10" diameter wheels rotating at 7,600 R.P.M. Tunco's wheels operate proficiently at that speed.

Depths of cut to 3/8" per pass are possible with all Tunco wheels. Material hardness, grit size, roll diameter, rotational speed of the roll and use of coolant are all factors to be considered in the optimum grinding operation.
